Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how CaseKhabar LLP ("CaseKhabar", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares and protects your information when you use the CaseKhabar app and website (the "Service"). By using the Service, you consent to the practices described here. This Policy should be read with our Terms & Conditions.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: your WhatsApp number (mandatory), and optionally your name, email address, and password (stored only in hashed form).

Advocate profile (advocate users only): High Court/bench, enrollment number and year, degree, place of practice, languages, areas of practice, and courts of practice.

Case-tracking inputs: the case/FIR details you ask us to monitor, such as case type and number, FIR number, year, district, police station, High Court and bench.

User content: notes and amounts you add against your cases.

Device & technical data: push-notification tokens, device/app information, IP address, and log data.

Payment information: if you purchase a paid plan or CK coins, payments are processed by a third-party payment processor (e.g., Razorpay). We do not store your full card or banking details.

CK Wallet & transaction data: your CK Wallet balance and a ledger of CK-coin top-ups and deductions (amount, date, and the feature used), kept for accounting, support, and to operate the wallet.

2. Publicly Available Court Data

When you ask us to track a case or FIR, we retrieve the corresponding publicly available information from court/government portals and store the latest results so we can detect changes and notify you. This data originates from third-party public sources, not from us.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide, operate and maintain the Service, including monitoring your cases and sending alerts;

• To verify your identity and secure your account (OTP, authentication);

• To display advocate profiles in the Advocate Directory (advocate users) and to enable litigants to discover and contact advocates;

• To process payments and manage subscriptions;

• To provide support, respond to requests, and send service/transactional messages;

• To maintain, improve and secure the Service and prevent misuse; and

• To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

4. Legal Basis and Consent

We process your information based on your consent (given when you create an account and tick the acceptance box), to perform our contract with you, to comply with legal obligations, and for our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Service. You may withdraw consent as described below, though some processing is necessary to provide the Service.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:

• Messaging providers (e.g., Meta/WhatsApp Business Platform or other messaging APIs) — to deliver your alerts and OTPs; this includes your WhatsApp number and the alert content.

• Payment processors (e.g., Razorpay) — to process payments.

• Hosting and infrastructure providers — to operate the Service.

• Advocate Directory — an advocate user's professional profile and WhatsApp number are shown to other users; if a litigant chooses to contact an advocate, the litigant's relevant contact details may be shared with that advocate.

• Legal and safety — to comply with law, legal process, or lawful requests, or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the Service.

• Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.

6. Your WhatsApp Number

Your WhatsApp number is used to log you in, verify your identity, and deliver alerts. It is shared with our messaging provider solely to deliver these messages. Alerts are sent in the language you select in your profile settings.

7. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, and thereafter as required to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information except where retention is legally required.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including hashing of passwords and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request to access, correct, update, or delete your personal information, or withdraw your consent. You can update much of your information in the app/website (e.g., profile and WhatsApp number), or contact us to exercise these rights. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

10. Children

The Service is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

11. Cookies and Local Storage

On the website and app we use local/secure storage (for example, to keep you signed in and to remember your language preference). We do not use this for third-party advertising.

12. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

13. Grievance Officer and Contact
